Part-time Compost Collections & Operations


$20/hr

  • ~20 hours/week

  • 2 days/week (Tuesday + Friday)

  • Anticipating adding an addititonal 3rd day in May (either Wednesday or Thursday)

Job Description:

Suncoast Compost is looking to add a part-time position that will have two primary responsibilities:

  1. Material Collection - Collection of residential and commercial organic material from households and businesses

  2. Compost Production - Use best practices in compost management for our modified static aerobic piles.

Responsibilities

  • Collect organic waste from residents and businesses throughout Tampa and St Petersburg safely and efficiently

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs safely

  • Record detailed collections data using an internal app

  • Start the compost route at 6am in Tampa. The compost collection route can take 5-6 hours to complete up to 60 stops.

  • Stay on top of inventory related to bins, bags and other collection related items

  • Immediately alert supervisor of any problems with collection or processing that have the potential of harming/delaying daily operations.

  • Relay comments, kudos, and criticism from customers

  • Leave workspace and truck clean and tidy before ending for the day

  • Follow composting best management practices

  • Composting operations can take 1-1.5 hrs/day

  • Maintain a good relationship with our farm partner

About You

  • Must have clean driving record

  • Willing and able to work outside in all of the elements

  • Friendly and polite when interacting with members

  • Detail oriented, good problem solver, can work independently, good communicator

  • Must be an early-riser. In order to avoid traffic, the route begins before the sun shines.
