Part-time Organics Collection & Composting

  • $14/hr 

  • 12-20 hours/week

  • 2 days/week (Tuesday + Friday)

  • 6-10 hours/day with opportunity for growth 

Start date: Friday, September 20th

Job Description:

Suncoast Compost is looking to add a part-time position that will have two primary responsibilities:

  1. Material Collection  - Collection of residential and commercial organic material from households and businesses

  2. Compost Production - Use best practices in compost management, including our modified static aerobic piles & black soldier fly system. 

Responsibilities

  • Collect organic waste from residents and businesses throughout Pinellas and Hillsborough County safely and efficiently

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs safely

  • Record detailed collections data using an internal app 

  • Start the compost route between 5am-6am at A Simpler Place Farm & Market in Riverview. The compost collection route can take 4-6 hours to complete up to 60 stops.

  • Stay on top of inventory related to bins, bags and other collection related items

  • Immediately alert supervisor of any problems with collection or processing that have the potential of harming/delaying daily operations.

  • Relay comments, kudos, and criticism from customers

  • Leave workspace and truck clean and tidy before ending for the day

About You

  • Must have clean driving record

  • Willing and able to work outside in all of the elements

  • Friendly and polite when interacting with members

  • Detail oriented, good problem solver, can work independently, good communicator

  • Must be an early-riser. In order to avoid traffic, the route begins before the sun shines.

If you’re not afraid to get dirty and you like talking trash, then this is the green gig for you. Responsibilities include:

  • Set up before the event

  • Hang out at a waste station

  • Assist and educate visitors at the waste station

  • Collect data as needed

  • Tear down at the end of the event

  • $50-$100/event
