The easiest way to compost in Tampa Bay

Anyone Can Compost!

You might hear the term "composting" thrown around a lot, but what exactly is it? Simply put, composting is when organic material, like fruits, veggies, even your coffee grounds, are decomposed and turned back into nutrient-rich soil. More importantly, it’s one of the greenest changes you can make in your life. It lowers land-fill waste, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and traps carbon into the Earth.

Although, as simple as it sounds, trying to implement this system into your home might be difficult. That's why we provide composting services! So, whether you live in an apartment, a house with minimal backyard, or frankly don't want the smell of rotting food, you can still contribute to lowering food waste and bettering our environment.

HOW IT WORKS

As a drop-off composter, you'll receive a kitchen bin and biobags to fill with all your spoiled produce, unwanted eggshells, and forgotten leftovers. Once your biobags are filled, you can swing by any one of our five drop-off locations in the Tampa and St. Petersburg area:

  • Community Roots Collective: 2746 N Florida Ave, Tampa, FL 33602

  • A Simpler Place: 9903 Carr Rd, Riverview, FL 33569

  • CAMP Tampa: 3012 W Palmira Ave, Tampa, FL 33629

  • The Luna Parlor: 6202 North Central Avenue Tampa, FL 33604

  • Big Sea: 646 2nd Avenue South, St. Petersburg, FL 33701

Your compost is then taken to A Simpler Place Farm & Market to be decomposed by our millions of microbes and black soldier flies. It's convenient for you and wonderful for our Earth!

So, what else can you throw into your biobags? Because we use these little winged warriors, you can compost anything from vegetables, fruits, paper napkins, even meats, cheeses, and sweets. We only ask that you don't throw in pet waste, liquids, or hot oils and fats.

Also, not only will you feel like a good human for helping our Earth, but twice a year you can come to a designated pick-up site and receive nutrient-rich fertilizer made from the very waste you dropped off. Unlike common fertilizers from the store, the fertilizer made from your food waste won't have any harmful chemicals. If you have plants in your home, a garden, or even just a front lawn, you can sprinkle 1/4 to 1/2 inch and watch your plant friends thrive!

Bettering our planet doesn't have to be difficult and our services make it convenient for you to be a part of a greener change. Together we can turn spoiled food into substance for a more beautiful Earth!
